Why I Stopped Writing—And Why I’m Starting Again

Why I Stopped Writing—And Why I’m Starting Again

There comes a time in every writer’s journey when silence becomes necessary.

Not because there is nothing left to say, but because there is more to learn.

My last post on this website was published on 24 January 2026. Since then, this space has remained quiet. The silence wasn’t intentional, nor was it the result of a lack of ideas. In fact, it was quite the opposite.

I spent the past several months rethinking my work, refining my focus, and asking myself a fundamental question:

What do I really want to be known for?

For more than three decades, I’ve worked in market research. I’ve helped organizations understand markets, consumers, communities, and changing behaviours. Research has always been my profession, but over the years, writing became my way of sharing those insights.

Along the way, I discovered something that has shaped the next chapter of my career:

Great writing doesn’t begin with words. It begins with questions.

Every meaningful article, report, book, or speech starts with curiosity. It demands evidence before opinion, context before conclusions, and thoughtful analysis before persuasive storytelling.

That belief has become the foundation of my work.

During these months away from blogging, I wasn’t standing still. I was writing, reading, researching, and refining my ideas. I published Parasocial Power, a book that explores how one-sided relationships influence trust, decision-making, and human behaviour in an increasingly digital world. The experience reinforced something I’ve long believed: the most compelling ideas are grounded in research, not trends.

I also had the privilege of working with professionals who wanted to communicate their expertise more effectively. Founders, consultants, researchers, and subject-matter experts all faced a similar challenge. They had valuable knowledge but struggled to present it in a way that was clear, credible, and influential.

It became increasingly obvious that the world doesn’t need more content.

It needs more thoughtful content.

Today, anyone can produce thousands of words with a few prompts. AI has made writing faster than ever. But speed is not the same as insight, and volume is not the same as value.

Original thinking still matters.

Careful research still matters.

Credibility still matters.

That’s why I’ve decided to reposition my work around a simple but powerful idea:

Research-Driven Thought Leadership.

To me, thought leadership isn’t about having the loudest voice or posting every day. It isn’t about chasing algorithms or repeating popular opinions. It’s about contributing something meaningful to a conversation—something informed by evidence, experience, and careful thinking.

Research provides the foundation. Writing gives ideas their voice. Together, they build authority and trust.

This philosophy will shape everything I publish from now on.

In the coming weeks and months, you’ll find articles here on topics such as:

  • Thought leadership and personal branding
  • Market and social research
  • Writing and communication
  • Marketing psychology
  • Executive content and ghostwriting
  • Lessons from Parasocial Power
  • Research methods that lead to better decisions

Some articles will be practical. Others will be reflective. Many will challenge conventional thinking. All of them will be grounded in the same principle: ideas deserve evidence.

If you’ve been a reader of this blog in the past, thank you for returning. If this is your first visit, welcome.

I hope this website becomes more than a collection of articles. My aim is to build a place where research meets storytelling, where complex ideas are made accessible, and where thoughtful conversations are encouraged.

If you’re a founder trying to articulate your vision, a consultant looking to establish authority, a researcher seeking to communicate insights, or an author shaping your next book, I hope you’ll find something here that helps you think differently.

This isn’t simply the return of a blog.

It’s the beginning of a clearer purpose.

Thank you for being here. I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
